　　971. Spin verb(spinning, spun, spun )

　　turn round quickly

　　~ (sth) (round / around) to turn round and round quickly; to make sth do this: [V] The

　　plane was spinning out of control. ◆ a spinning ice skater ◆ My head is spinning (= I feel as

　　if my head is going around and I can't balance). ◆ His theories on economics are enough to

　　make your head spin (= make you feel very confused). ◆ [VN] to spin a ball / coin / wheel ◆

　　We place our bets and the croupier spun the roulette wheel.

　　~ (round / around) to turn round quickly once; to make sb do this: [V] He spun around to

　　face her. ◆ She spun on her heel and walked out. [also VN]

　　make thread

　　~ (A into B)

　　~ (B from A) to make thread from wool, cotton, silk, etc. by twisting it: [V] She sat by the

　　972. Engross verb

　　[VN] if sth engrosses you, it is so interesting that you give it all your attention and time: As the

　　business grew, it totally engrossed him.

　　973. Enrapture verb[VN][usually passive]

　　(formal) to give sb great pleasure or joy

　　974. Lure verb[VN][usually +adv./prep.](disapproving) to persuade or trick sb to go

　　somewhere or to do sth by promising them a reward: The child was lured into a car but

　　managed to escape. ◆ Young people are lured to the city by the prospect of a job and money.

　　975. Entice verb

　　[usually +adv./prep.]~ sb (into doing sth) to persuade sb/sth to go somewhere or to do

　　sth, usually by offering them sth: [VN] The bargain prices are expected to entice customers

　　away from other stores. ◆ a plan to entice mothers back to work ◆ The animal refused to be

　　enticed from its hole. ◆ [VN to inf] Try and entice the child to eat by offering small portions

　　of their favourite food.
